4 month appointment

The boys had their 4 month old appt today. Oy, getting out the door sure had it's challenges. The power went out about 40 minutes before I was leaving. I had the boys in their cute outfits, had just finished feeding them and had changed Malcolm's less than rosy diaper and was getting ready to leave the house when I could smell Lachlan. I went to change him only to discover he had not only filled his diaper but his clothes right up to the back of his neck. I got that all cleaned up and then as I had him bent over and was scrubbing his back he threw up all over my leg. I went to get a cloth to wipe that up and came back to find him gleefully peeing straight into the air.

Thankfully, a few minutes later our friend Susan arrived to come with us to help out which is wonderful because it is busy when I take them by myself. (Today it was busy before I even got out the door and yes, Lachlan ended up back in his jammies to go to the doctor as they were the closest thing I could find in proximity to the change table.)

ANYWAY, the first GREAT news is that they have come through their colds beautifully with no lung problems. For this we are truly grateful to God.

Lachlan has surpassed Malcolm in weight and is now 14 lbs, 13 ozs. Malcolm is an inch longer and weighs 14 lbs, 11 ozs. We are weaning Malcolm's seizure meds down for a week and if there is no activity (which there hasn't been since back in the NICU), he can go off them in 7 days. Their head control is fine and their OT assessment is next Friday.

We grabbed Quizno's and came home and sat by the fire and visited for the afternoon while the boys slept. It was nice to have adult conversation and a nice visit with a good friend. We are very appreciative of Susan, she was called in the night our boys were born and worked on them for us, so not only are we appreciative of her friendship, but of her exemplary nursing skills with our boys the night of their birth as well. I cannot say what a comfort it was to me lying in the OR to know she was with my babies. Lachlan must have a soft spot for her, too. I said to him today, "Say hi to Susan, Lachlan."He looked at her and said, "Hi". A fluke for sure but it was pretty darn cute and gave us a good laugh!

I am looking forward to the weekend and hope you all are, too.
